What is a bridal shower?
Bridal showers or bridal parties are organised and given by the bride’s chosen bridesmaids. The bridesmaids will organise the entire bridal shower including the following…
- Design of the bridal shower invitations
- Location of the bridal shower
- Decorations for the bridal shower
- Food for the bridal shower
- Games for the bridal shower
A bridal shower is meant to be a surprise party for the bride.
At the bridal shower, guests will bring gifts for the bride which are normally new household items that the newlyweds will need to begin their life together. Some popular bridal shower gifts would be…
- Fine china
- Teapots
- Silverware
- Toasters
- Linens
- Picture Frames
- Vases
- Wine Glasses
Many brides and grooms will register at their favorite department store before the bridal shower, taking the guesswork out of finding the perfect gift for them.
Another popular idea at wedding showers is to include a wishing well. It resembles an old fashioned well, but is made out of cardboard and decorated in wedding theme. The bridal shower guests are asked to bring along a small inexpensive gist as well as their bridal shower gift and place them in the wishing well. The idea is that the inexpensive gifts are supposed to bring the bride good luck.
Bridal shower venues vary, the most common venue for a bridal shower would be at someones home, while other bridal showers are held in a restaurant or even in a private function room or a club.
The most entertaining parts of the bridal shower are the games. There are hundreds of different bridal shower games that can be played, ranging from tame to naughty. Some are tongue in cheek, meant to tease the bride, and others are great ice breakers, especially for those guests who are not familiar with all the other guests.
